For the first time in more than a week, I am alone with my little family. My mom has gone home, the bris is done, and my in-laws have retreated to their hotels for the night. As I sit here on our couch--a couch again after a week of duty as a bed--i see the cats emerge from their hiding places and begin to sniff new baby gifts. The only sounds are the rhythmic chirping of two birds, the tick of the hall clock and the crunch of a cat free to eat his dinner. My child is asleep on my chest. There is nothing more I need than this.

It's nice once all the family leaves and you have some time with your own little family. I love Emerson's hair!
My first born was jaundiced, but they sent us home with a "light belt" that glowed green (we called her Glow-ey Zoe) and it made the most wonderful white noise. I wanted to keep it forever b/c it actually made her sleep. ;)

He is so perfect.

It is so nice to have your home back. While all the help is wonderful, being alone together is so nice.

James had jaundice as well. We were at the hospital an extra 3 days then they had him on a bili blanket at home. He was our little glow worm for the first two weeks of his life.

Oh by the way, you will be a mommy couch for a long time to come ;). I still enjoy it when James will come and lay on me.

As nice as it is to have helping hands around it's often easier to rest when they're gone. Thanks for sharing the pictures, those are just lovely and bring back so many wonderful memories of my own boys.

It's nice when things calm down and you can just be alone with your baby and husband.

The pictures are beautiful and Emmerson is the cutest!

When Elder Son was born, my mom lived about four blocks away. They had kept me in the hospital for 10 days, so by the time I went home she figured she only needed to come over for about an hour every evening. Enjoy your family.

Those bouncy seats, if I hadn't had one I'd probably still be eating one-handed.

I love it when Evan sleeps on my chest. He'll be 4 in September, and on rare occasions, when he's tired enough and cuddly enough he'll still sleep on me. They're few and far between, but I love it when it happens... He's beautiful, and so are you! Motherhood seems to suit you... :)
